Hour 44 - Your Body Language Shapes Who You Are

Hour 44 - Ted Talk with Amy Cuddy: Your Body Language Shapes Who You Are.
Yes, this was a video, but I was still able to listen to the audio component while I walked, and when necessary I would pull my phone out of my pocket and look at the charts.
What I found interesting was when Amy discussed scientific research that showed taking on a power pose, or dominate stance, increases your testosterone levels and decreases your cortisol levels, resulting in more confidence and less stressful reactive behaviour.
And when you take on poor posture and a less dominant stance your testosterone levels decrease and your cortisol levels increase, therefore you’re less confident and more stressed.
Here’s the takeaway: Don’t fake it till you make it. Fake it till you become it.
If you have to pretend you’re more confident than you really are, whether it’s for a public speaking role, a job interview, or a recent promotion at work, you need to learn to fake it till you become it. Over time you will become that person.
