Hour 239 - Numerology

HOUR 239: The Mind Your Business Podcast with James Wedmore and Phoebe Mroczek, Episode 019: Know Your Numbers (An Intro to Numerology) with Kari Samuels.

This podcast was recommended by my good friend Dr. Brent Seaver. My initial thoughts were, “what have you been smoking Brent”, but once I got into the episode is was really interesting. Kari links numerology to both personal and business success and how you need to understand your energy flow.

Today’s takeaway point:

#1: You don’t need to believe in numerology, you just need to pay attention to it. So forget about numerology and ASK YOURSELF, Am I in tune with my own energy at the moment?
Have you noticed times when you have high and low energy levels? You need to pay attention to this. You will be more productive and intuitive when you understand your energy flows. - Check out the term MERCURY RETROGRADE.

BONUS TIP: People respond to energy more than information, so if you’re communicating with someone via email, make sure it contains your energy and not just boring info. SO STOP THINKING SO MUCH AND START FEELING.

Hour 238 - People to Avoid

HOUR 238: (Fiji) The Tai Lopez Show: 70% Of The People You Probably Need To Avoid.

So far all of the podcasts I have listened to I’ve agreed with the message, or at least part of it, but this one is too left field for me.

Watch my video and you’ll understand why. Maybe I missed the point!!! I totally get it about avoiding certain people, but 70% is quite high and to eliminate people on medication for mental disorders is a bit hard.

Hour 237 - Beyond The Comfort Zone

HOUR 237: (FIJI) The Charged Life with Brendon Burchard, Ep date 25/4/17: Beyond The Comfort Zone.

Today’s Takeaway points:
#1: Your comfort zone is not important, because if you have dreams and goals you will do whatever it takes to achieve them, whether they’re inside or outside your comfort zone, and because we’re often told to play to our strengths, which does make sense, sometimes we need to work on our weaknesses to achieve our goals, and often they’re outside our comfort zone.

#2: What would your courages future-self tell you…if it could? What skill would it tell you to learn to help you achieve your goals? Think about it, and then go and do it.

Hour 236 - How Does A Successful Mind Think

HOUR 236: (FIJI) The Positive Play podcast Cannon Lee and Triz Garcia, Episode date 14/4/17 - How Does A Successful Mind Think with Amy Simpkins - Vision Architect.

Today’s Takeaway points:

#1: Your words shape your thoughts and your thoughts shape your actions. So if you let negative words come out of your mouth they will effect your thinking and this will eventually effect the actions, or inactions you take each day.

#2: A successful mind is also an ‘Experimental Mind’. Its not afraid to try new things and it’s not afraid to make mistakes, because it learns from errors and keeps moving forward.

Hour 235 - To Do List Apps

HOUR 235: The Productivity Show, Episode 135: How To Find & Choose The Perfect Todo List App For You.

Some people still like to use pen, paper and post-it-notes, but there are a lot of todo list apps and programs that can be used to make your life a lot more productive.

For very simple tasks, like shopping lists, there are many FREE apps you can download that have very basic functions.

Also, don’t forget to use the REMINDER on your phone as a todo function. It’s no good as a list, but excellent for one off activities, like picking up your children  from school.

Other considerations:
  • Are you sharing your todo list with someone else? Some are better than others at sharing.
  • Are you using it for business or is it just for personal use?
  • If you’re thinking of changing to a new todo list  app, make sure the change is worthwhile, becasue it will take you time to make the change. Is there a feature you really need and is this why you’re changing?
  • What are other people using successfully?

Hour 234 - Gary Vaynerchuk How To Start

HOUR 234: The GaryVee Audio Experience, Episode 17/4/17 - HOW TO START.
This podcast episode is all about creating content and why there’s no excuse for not talking to the world.

But fist you need to know WHAT, HOW and WHERE.

WHAT are you going to talk about? What do you want to be know for? You need to tell people what you’re thinking and don’t be afraid to share your thoughts.

You need to document what you’re passionate about. It may be coffee, food, whisky, or exercise and fitness. Self Awareness is the key and it’s more important than the hustle.

If you’re into Smurfs you need to Smurf-It-Up.

HOW are you going to share your information? you do it will vary. Some people prefer video and audio, while other like to write. Sure all mediums and play to your strengths.
Just get in front of a camera and start recording your thoughts and learn to enjoy the process of sharing.

WHERE you place your content is endless. Of course you have all the social media platforms, especially Facebook and Instagram, but you need to also guest blog, partner up with other people and you need to give, give, give value to people…and then ask.

As an example, go online and look up #CoffeeBlogs #coffee etc and you’ll find hundreds of links to coffee blogs and website. Start asking if you can write for them. One out of 347 will say yes, and that’s better than zero.

Start a beer blog, if you’re into beer, and then contact every beer outlet and ask if they’d like to advertise on your blog.

Why not start a written blog inside Facebook, or videos on Instagram. Share you thoughts on a regular basis. Gary said people eat this sh#t up.

SIMPLY START EXECUTING.

Hour 233 - Grow Up & Be An Adult

HOUR 233: MORNING MINDFULNESS podcast with JIN, Episode 484: Childish Mentality - Grow Up & Get Out Of Your Dangerous Box.

Tia’s Takeaway:

When you’re a child you can make silly decisions, because you don’t have as much knowledge or understanding. For example, why playing with matches can end badly. However as an adult you’re not supposed to make the same silly decisions, but some still do.

My Takeaway:

Eventually all adults need to grow up. It’s fine to act like a child occasionally, which I’m totally guilty of, but eventually you’ve got to remove actions that put your health and wellbeing at risk. Your actions may also put others at risk.

As an example, an immature driver will change lanes without checking their blind spot. They may do this out of inexperience, however as they become a more experienced and mature driver, this poor habit should not exist.

Hour 232 - Relationship with Parents

HOUR 232: Bond Appetit podcast with Ronsley Vaz, Episode 179: How My Father Schooled Me On My Own Podcast with Ricardo Vaz.
This is a really open, honest and at times, funny conversation between a Father and Son.
Today’s Takeaway points:
#1: Make an effort to communicate with your parents more often, because they do notice when you stop calling. It’s true, life gets busy, but we should never be too busy for our parents.
#2: A child can excel in anything if you let them play to their strengths. Some children are academics, while others are naturally gifted in sport, (some are both) and as parents we should provide guidance and advice, but we need to let them make the final decision in regards to their own career path.

Hour 231 - Tapping Into Your Dreams

HOUR 231: Elevating Beyond podcast with Mark Minard, Episode 139: Tapping Into Your Dreams with Chris Hogan.

Chris Hogan is the author of Retired Inspired.
Today’s Takeaway points:
#1: Retirement is not an age, it’s a financial number.
#2: You need to have a dream meeting with your partner or spouse.
#3: You then need to plan out how your going to achieve your dreams, becasue a dream without a plan is just a wish.
#4: Part of your plan is budgeting and knowing the difference between you WANTS and NEEDS.
#5: You need to surround yourself with a great team (Accountant, Lawyer, Business Advisor, Financial Planner and your family)
#6: Action Kills Fear
#7: You should be 100% present when you’re at home and the same when you’re at work. Limit distractions and cross over.

Hour 230 - Time Management Tip

HOUR 230: Happier podcast with Gretchen Rubin, Episode 112: Pick A Uniform (& Time Management Tip)

Today’s Tips:

#1: If you have a set uniform, or style of clothing that you will wear everyday, it can eliminate ‘Decision Fatigue’. You don’t have to wast any mental energy trying to decide what you will wear. This worked extremely well for Steve Jobs (Black shirt, jeans, skate shoes)

#2: You need to time all your activities, using a stopwatch, especially the activities you don’t like to to and you keep putting off. By doing this you can work out exactly how much time they take you to do.

For example, emptying the dishwasher will realistically only take 3 minutes, yet we’ll put it off because mentally it feels like it takes much longer.

Therefore you need to time all your activities: Moving the lawn, cleaning the pool, taking a shower, doing your hair, driving to work, doing the washing, hanging out the washing, and taking the washing off the line, etc etc etc.

When you know how much time each activity takes, you can strategically see how they fit into your busy, or possibly cluttered lifestyle. You will get more done by doing this.

Hour 229 - Seeking Guidance from a Billionaire

HOUR 229: The One Thing podcast with Geoff Woods, Episode 5: Seeking Guidance From A Billionaire - Jeff Hoffman.

Todays’ takeaway points:

#1: You don’t have to try and solve all the worlds problems in one day. Start small and learn the success process with small steps, then take on bigger projects.

#2:Find a problem that you know people care about…and fix it, but you need to work out if people are willing to pay you to solve it first.

* There’s a great story about how Jeff Hoffman helped develop the boarding pass kiosks at airport. He identified a ‘pain point’ and solved it.

#3: You will miss 100% of the shots you do not take.

Hour 228 - Reaching Greatness with Brendon Burchard

HOUR 228: THE CHARGED LIFE with Brendon Burchard, Episode date: 16/04/17 - Reaching Greatness.

To say, “I’m great”, is a little egotistical, so to be known as great it must come from other people.
Think of all the great people in your life. It could be a parent, a teacher, a friend or someone else you know.

Brendon shares three traits he believes makes someone great.

#1: They live with intention.
#2: They are always kind, no matter the situation.
#3: They are always looking for ways to serve others.

I have a friend Dean Hawkins and he lives and breaths these three traits everyday. He lives with intention, he is extremely kind to everyone, and he is always asking how he can be of service, and I know there are no ulterior motives.
Try and live your life the same way and you will be known as great.

Hour 227 - Only Kindness Matters

HOUR 227: The Mountain Mantras Podcast with Kathryn Kemp Guylay, Episode 54: Understand That In The End Only Kindness Matters. with Lisa Najjar.

This podcast is completely different to what I normally listen to and review, and is way outside my comfort zone, but having said that, I really enjoyed the advice shared.

Lisa Najjar is a Psychic / Medium and author of Dying To Tell You - Channeling Messages From the Famously Dead.

Today’s Takeaway:

This is a message passed on from the dead to the living: In life you need to give, give give and love, love love. You need to have joy in your heart, love other people and most of all always be kind, because in the end only kindness matters.
Negative environments and relationships create negative energy, because there’s no love, no giving, no joy and no kindness, so remove it from your life.

Hour 226 - How to Get What You Want

HOUR 226: Positive Play podcast with Cannon Lee and Triz Garcia, Episode date 15/4/17 - How to get what you want and need in life with Karen Luniw, Founder of Attract More Now.
Today’s Takeaway points:
#1: You need to find ways to stay focused and you need to avoid focusing on what you don’t want.
#2: You need to FEEL your goals, as though you’ve already achieved them and then use that feeling to excite you. Relive that feeling often.
#3: Don’t catch the Negative Conclusion Virus. You catch it by saying things like, “I could never do that”, or “I don’t deserve…”. Also avoid listening to other peoples advice, “you can’t do that”. Instead introduce more Positive Conclusions in your life.

iTunes: http://apple.co/2o30E0e

Hour 225 - Sleep & Success

HOUR 225: The $100 MBA podcast with Omar Zenhom, Episode 869: The Surprising Truth About Sleep and Success.
Today I had my good friend Scott Brown join me for the walk and we both shared one takeaway point.
#1: Don’t try and copy other successful peoples sleep habits. Just becasue the CEO of Apple wakes up at 3.45am and only require 5 1/2 hours of sleep per day, doesn’t mean that’s what will work best for you. You need to spend time working out what works best for you.
#2: Everyone is unique and different, so therefore everyones sleep requirements are going to be different. Some people have office jobs, while others work outdoors and have more physical requirements. It’s all about AWARENESS. You need to know your body and how it reacts to travel, stress, exercise , diet and also take into account family commitments.
Bonus tips:
  • When you go to sleep and when you wake up makes a big difference. Some people prefer to go to sleep earlier and wake up earlier, while others it’s the opposite.
  • With your diet, if you eat a heavy meal just before going to bed your body is working harder while your asleep and you won’t feel as rested. Sugar and coffee cravings will also alter your sleeping patterns.
  • To create any new sleeping habit…Consistency is the key.

Hour 224 - How To Get Preferential Treatment

HOUR 224: THE ZIGLAR SHOW podcast with host Kevin Miller, Episode 461: How To Get Preferential Treatment.

I simply cannot listen to Zig Ziglar and not have a smile on my face and feel good afterwards.
Today’s takeaway points:
#1: As Zig always says, ‘You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want’. This quote translates to every aspect of your life.
#2: Always to kind and thoughtful to the server, they are all human beings and at some point in your life you will also be the sever.
#3: Winning relationships are built on trust, respect and a genuine interest in the other person.
A friend of mine, Deb Johnstone, recently said you always get back from a relationship what you put into that relationship. What you reap you will sow. It’s an ENERGY EXCHANGE…Energy In, Energy Out.

Hour 223 - Feedback on Pitches

HOUR 223: Interview Connections podcast with Jessica Rhodes & Margy Fuldhuhn, Episode IC002 - Feedback on Pitches & Relationships With Guests.

INTERVIEW CONNECTIONS is a business that connects podcast hosts with suitable guests for their shows.

There were two guest on this podcast and I will share one point from each:
Guest #1: Damion Lupo: He gave Jessica positive feedback about how she doesn’t just connect a guest and a host without first listening to the hosts podcast. By doing this she is ENGAGING  withe host and also specifically tailoring the guest introduction.
Guest #2: Adam Hommey: It’s important to build relationships with your guests to get the most out of an interview…and it’s super important to get their name right. Even if it seems really obvious, always ask the guest how to pronounced their name correctly.
Even if you have no plans on producing a podcast series, both these tips are important for life and business.

Hour 222 - 4 Dumb Things People Say That Prevent Us From Growing

HOUR 222: (Osaka, Japan) THE CHARGED LIFE with Brendon Burchard, Episode date: 28/03/17 - 4 Dumb Things (People Say) That Prevent Us From Growing.
We say these four things to ourselves, sometimes without realising, and they can have a negative effect on our lives.
We also say these four things when someone is genuinely trying to help us, which can impact our long-term goals and our dreams.
Here They are:
#1: I’ve tried everything. (Have you really, show me the list)
#2: That works for them, but it wouldn’t work for me. (You’ve failed even before you’ve started)
#3: You don’t understand (Most people do understand pain, and they will understand yours if you learn to communicate properly)
#4: It’s easier said than done (This is a real negative and halts you in your tracks. Your defeated before you even get started)

Hour 221- Failure & Imagination with J K Rowling

HOUR 221: Be Remarkable podcast , episode date 3/5/16 - Failure & Imagination (J.K Rowling).
This speech took place at Harvard University.

Today’s Takeaways:
#1: There’s an expiry date on blaming your parents for everything that’s gone wrong in your life. At a certain age you need to start taking responsibility.
#2: Failure makes you stronger. You can have all the qualifications in the world and a very long CV but it’s only through failure that you gain real knowledge.
#3: What we achieve inwardly, we express outwardly.
#4: Failure can help you find your real passion.
#5: Mediocre success can be a real problem in limiting your future success and imagination. Some people think mediocre is okay and therefore never strive for more.

Hour 220 - The Essential Question - Part Two

HOUR 220: (Osaka, Japan) The James Altucher Show, Episode 222 - The Essential Question: How To Live A Good Life with Ryan Holiday.

PART TWO as promised.

Today’s Takeaways:

#1: Reinventing yourself can reignite the fire in your belly, however if you reinvent yourself just be careful to not overdo it and become unrecognisable to the people that follow and support you.

#2: What does the ideal day mean to you? Sitting on a beach drinking cocktails sounds great, but realistically your goal should be constantly working towards getting closer to achieving the ideal day.
For example: Allowing more time to get to an appointment and not feeling stressed should be part of an ideal day. Saying NO to things you don’t really want to do, therefore allowing more time to do things you do want to do is part of an ideal day. Living life on your terms.
Bonus Tip:
  • In life you need to know your scene. Who’s following you and who are you competing with.
  • Learn to be paid for all your time. You shouldn’t have to give away your time for free just to try and WOW a client. Have them pay for your time from the first moment. If they become a client, this initial fee can be taken off or included in the overall fee.

Hour 219 - The Essential Question with James Altucher & Ryan Holiday

HOUR 219: (Osaka, Japan) The James Altucher Show, Episode 222 - The Essential Question: How To Live A Good Life with Ryan Holiday.

This podcast episode goes for an hour and a half so I’ve decided to split it into two parts. Today is PART ONE.

Today’s Takeaway:

When you find something you love to do, make sure your success doesn’t distract you from it long-term. For example, if you’re a success writer and you LOVE TO WRITE, don’t be distracted by the allure of more money by running seminars, courses, workshops and speaking gigs.

Yes the money may sound great, but if it takes you away from what you really love to do is it really worth it????????? Think about it.

Other points not shared on the video, but definitely worth sharing:
  • Really great work is never appreciated in the beginning. Even Jesus would agree with that.
  • There’s so much noise today you have to do more, more often, to be noticed. You can’t write one book and live off of it anymore.
  • All careers today are based around having good communication skills.
  • Stoic people are not surprised by unfairness, and the world will break your heart if you think life is supposed to be fair.

Hour 218 - The Fastest Way To Improve Your Path To Success

HOUR 218: (Osaka, Japan) The Morning Mindfulness podcast with Jin, Episode 473: Mastermind: The Fastest Way To Improve Your Path To Success.

Today’s Takeaways:

It’s okay to not be great at everything, and this is why being part of a mastermind group is such a good idea. You can openly share your ideas, concerns and fears with a group of like minded people who may have skills in areas you do not have.

Mastermind groups can be a physical group or a virtual group you meet with online, but the meetings must be regular.

Napoleon Hill discusses masterminding in his book Think and Grow Rich, so it’s not a new concept, but it will definitely speed up your path to success.

Hour 217 - Self Publish The Best Seller Inside Of You - Part 2

HOUR 217: (OSAKA, Japan) - Optimal Startup Daily with Lee Rankinen and Justin Malik, Episode 85: Self-Publish The Bestseller Inside You - Part Two.

(Information in this podcast episode are based on tips from acclaimed author James Altucher)

#1: Money - you can make more money self publishing, because you can direct your own career. You can take it where ‘you’ want it to go.

#2: Marketing - you have control of how and where your book is marketed.

#3: You can redefine what a book is - As far as publisher is concerned if you’re not writing 40,000+ words they’re not interested, but some of the most successful self published books have only been 7000 words. Also you can write about anything you want (eg: family history)

#4: Self publish, then publish - Publishers often look at self publishers like the minor leagues, and they are always scouting the market. This is exactly how 50 Shades of Grey became so popular.
Bonus tips not on video:

#5: No Stereotyping - As a self published author you can write a finance book and your next book can be about cooking. A publisher would never let you do this.

#6: A book is really just a very big business card, and it’s great for business.

The past two podcast episodes have been taken from an original blog post written by James Altucher, so if you’d like to read the original blog, here is the link: (what I wrote only scratched the surface)

Hour 216 - Self Publish The Best Seller Inside You - Part 1

HOUR 216 (OSAKA, Japan) - Optimal Startup Daily with Lee Rankinen and Justin Malik, Episode 84: Self-Publish The Bestseller Inside You - Part One.

(Information in this podcast episode are based on tips from acclaimed author James Altucher)

In part one they share reasons why self-publishing is better than traditional publishing, and why it’s a myth to think that people only self publish because they cannot get a traditional publishing deal.

#1: Speed - you can self publish a book much faster, usually within 3 to 6 months, compared to 1 to 2 years with a traditional publisher.

#2: Control - you have totally control over cover design, layout, the editing process and marketing. And most importantly where, when and how it is marketed.

#3: Permission & Ideas - you don’t need anyones permission to begin writing and if you have an idea, no matter how bizarre it may be, you can write about it. The market will determine if it’s any good or relevant. Ideas have NO LIMITS.

Todays Takeaway Points:

#1: Why do you have a Youtube channel? If you don’t understand why, you’re going to find it difficult to built subscribers.
#2: The best Youtube channels are the ones that never run out of material. Most having nothing to say after 6 - 8 episodes.
#3: To stay inspired, stop focusing on what your don’t have, instead focus on what you do have.
#4: When someone gives you advice…never say ‘Yeah, but’, and try and make an excuse for your actions. As soon as you say this you’ve lost the conversation.

HOUR 214: Lewis Howes School of Greatness, Episode 462 - Manage Your Energy.
Todays takeaway points:

#1: Managing your energy is more about managing your thinking than managing anything else, and if you don’t manage your energy levels you’re going to feel really flat.

#2: You need to visualise how your mind and body will react when you achieve certain goals.

Hour 213 - Branding

HOUR 213: Glambition Radio with Ali Brown, Episode date 12/1/16 - Dorie Clark, Branding Expert and author of Stand Out.

Today’s Takeaway:

It’s hard to tell what is going to appeal to the masses, so before you put all your effort and money into one grand idea, you should first test the market. A good way to do this is by blogging about your idea, via multiple channels, and seeing what captures peoples interest and seeing what comments and shares you receive. This could give you some insight into how the market is thinking.

A big concern people have is if they share their idea too early someone may try and steal it, and you’re probably right they will, however if you blast your idea constantly, you will be known as the person who created it first and the other people will be seen as copy.

Bonus Idea (not on video) - Sometimes people will invest 2 years into developing a course without even mentioning it in a blog. So blog first and see if there’s any interest before you invest too much time into developing it. This could save you a lot of time and give you the ability to pivot.

Hour 212 - Expensive Payroll Mistakes

HOUR 112: The Savvy Dentist with Dr Jesse Green, Episode 51: An Insiders Guide To Avoid Expensive Payroll Mistakes with Tracy Angwin.

When you think of payroll mistakes you’re usually worried about underpaying your staff, but often it’s the opposite, you could be overpaying them, because you don’t understand the award correctly.
Most small business owners are unaware that they are bound by the same payroll rules as large billion dollar companies, except they don’t have the same payroll or legal team behind them.
Therefore, considered outsourcing your payroll to a company that knows exactly what to do.

Hour 211 - KARDENNI

HOUR 211: Two Magicians, One Mic - Episode date: 19/12/12 - KARDENNI

This is an older podcast recording from 2012, but I’m so glad I stumbled across it. It reminded me why I’m enjoying this walking challenge so much, because every industry has something worth sharing.

Kardenni is the Magician on the podcast and below are my takeaway points from the interview:

#1: Be inspired by others, but do not copy others, especially if it does not fit your character.
#2: Always use your own personality to make what ever it is your doing original. Make sure you keep it real, don’t plagiarise others, and make sure you’re constantly writing and developing your own material and ideas. Being original is hard work, but it’s so worth it in the end.
#3: Bonus Tip (not on video): Play to the audiences intelligence. Always make sure you’re being understood by everyone watching or listening to you, not just some. You can be very intellectual, but if no one understands what you’re saying or doing, what’s the point.

Hour 210 - Sometimes Business Sucks

HOUR 210: Marketing In Your Car with Russell Brunson, Episode 323: Sometimes Business Sucks.

When you first start out in business everything is simple, however as you grow and develop you will eventually face different challenges. You may face legal issues, product problems etc, but the number one things that really sucks is staffing issues.

An employee that’s with you when your business is turning over $200K per year may not be the right fit as you try to grow your business to $500K, and sometimes you must let them go.

Here's the good news though. More often than not they’ll find employment somewhere else and be much happier as well, because they’ll realise they were no longer a good fit as well.

Hour 209 - Letting Go of Guilt with Katie Allen

HOUR 209: Living Intentionally with Amy Smalarz, Episode date 6/3/17: Letting Go Of Guilt with Katie Allen.

Today’s Takeaway:

Yes you need to have vision, goals and a huge WHY and one of the best ways to accomplish this is to have a personal contract with yourself.

In this contract, for example, you may say you won’t take appointments before 9am and you’ll not work past 5pm, going you time for both your family and for yourself (maybe exercise).

Your family, friends and work colleagues need to know the details of your contract, you cannot keep it a secret, because you’re going to need their understanding and support.

If you Boss rings at 5.15pm, he or she will know you won’t answer the phone, and this also works just as well for your family. If they are wanting your attention before 5pm, they’ll also learn you’re in work mode.

This is living with intention and controlling life, not letting life’s fire alarms and distraction control you.

Hour 208 - Starting A Business In A Crowded Market

HOUR 208: $100 MBA podcast with Omar Zenhom, Episode 865: Starting A Business In A crowded Market.

Today’s Takeaway points:

#1: A lot of people think they need to create something new when they hit the market, but the problem with that is no one is looking for it, so it takes a lot of time, money and effort to promote it.

#2: The best thing about a crowded market is it proves people want that particular product or service. You just want your slice of the pie and there’s three ways to do this.

  • Differentiate yourself from everyone else.
  • What pain points are you going to solve.
  • Find your NICHE in the market, because if you try to speak to everyone, you end up speaking to no one. You become very vanilla.

Hour 207 - How Can We Fit More Productive Hours In One Week

HOUR 207: MORNING MINDFULNESS podcast with JIN, Episode 464: How Can We Fit More Productive Hours In One Week.

Todays Takeaway:

We all have 24 hours per day, so how come some people fit so much more in?

Time management is not possible, because we can’t manage something we have no control over. But what we can manage is our priorities.

It’s ‘Priority Management’. Each day you need to focus on what has the highest priority, and if you do this day by day, you’ll have a very productive week and get far more done. So focus on your priorities and let time take care of itself.

Hour 206: Stick To Your Word

HOUR 206: The Charged Life with Brendon Burchard, episode date 21/3/17: Stick To Your Word:

If you’re someone who constantly lets people down, here are four tips to help you stick to your word.

#1: Stop committing to things that you have no passion for. Learn to say no now and you won’t have to say sorry later.

#2: Respect other peoples time. You cancelling is disrespectful. The other person has a ‘to do list’ for the day and priorities as well. They would probably prefer to spend more time with their family and kids, but instead they’ve committed to you. Be respectful.

#3: Know your payoff. Why did you commit in the first place? What were you going to ‘get’ or ‘give’? So if you’re about to flake out, remember why you said yes.

#4: You break it you buy it. You must repair the damage for breaking your word. You could send them a very kind email or audio message apologising. A small gift to say sorry, or give them more than they were expecting on your nest meeting. If you were initially going to give them 30 minutes of your time, instead give them 60 minutes. You must be more generous if you truly want to repair the relationship.

Hour 205: Transition Out of Professional Sport with Ged Robinson

HOUR 205: Uncomfortable is OK podcast with Chris Desmond, Episode 44: The Transition Out Of Professional sport with Ged Robinson.

Ged Robinson was a professional rugby player for over ten years and now owns a business called Fed by Ged.

Today’s takeaway points:
# 1: Don’t wait until your career is coming to an end or your business is taking a downturn before starting to develop and learn new skills. Do it when times are good as well so you are fully prepared for whatever happens in the future.
# 2: There are two mindsets. A ‘Growth Mindset’ and a ‘ Fixed Mindset’.
People with a growth mindset believe they can do anything if they put in the hard work and they have no boundaries or limitations on what they think they can achieve.
People with a fixed mindset are born with a gift and won’t pursue anything outside of their basic skill set. They have limited beliefs around growth.

Hour 204 - Habits & Discipline

HOUR 204: The One Thing podcast with Geoff Woods, Episode 3: How Habits and Discipline helped Chris Heller become CEO of Kellor Williams.

Todays’ takeaway points:
#1: As soon as you start implementing Time Blocking you begin to realise how many loose ends you have in both your personal and business life. Loose ends will be constant interruptions if you let them.
#2: People fail to use Time Blocking effectively because they have not created the habit of doing it. No different to exercise, we all know it’s good for us, but we fail to do it because there’s no habit to do it.
#3: Lack of time is not the problem, it’s lack of commitment and losing sight of the ‘one thing’ that’s important.

Hour 203 - Procrastination To Action - PART 2

HOUR 203: Positive Play podcast with Cannon Lee and Triz Garcia, Episode 24: Procrastination to Action with Dean Hawkins. PART TWO.

Today’s takeaway points:

#1: One way to overcome procrastination is to be both well organised and well prepared, and to understand that FEAR is just that little child in your head telling you that you cannot do it, but if you’re well organised and prepared you’ll know exactly what to do when this occurs.

#2: The difference between someone who is lucky and someone who is not lucky is simply preparedness, they have goals, they know their why, they’ve spent time educating themselves and gaining knowledge. Basically they’re ready for luck yo come their way.

Dean discusses 5 points to overcome procrastination, which I won’t go into here, because it’s quite detailed, however I think you should put some time aside and listen to them.

Hour 202 - Procrastination To Action

HOUR 202: Positive Play podcast with Cannon Lee and Triz Garcia, Episode 24: Procrastination to Action with Dean Hawkins. This podcasts episode is over 1.5 hours so I have decided to split it over two walks, therefore today is PART ONE.

Today’s takeaway points:
#1: Before you’ll ever have an AHA moment, your mind must first to be open to new ideas and suggestions. This may sound a little whoo whoo, but messages do come from the universe so you must be open and ready for them.
#2: You need to know WHY you’re doing something and it must align with your VALUES.
For example, you may want to lose weight and if you lose half a kilo, basically you’ve achieved your goal, but if you’re morbidly obese, losing half a kilo is not going to make too much difference. You’ve got to have a bigger WHY and there needs to be more meaning behind it.

Hour 201 - The Art of Mastering YOU

HOUR 201: EOFire podcast with John Lee Dumas, Episode 1608: The Art Of Mastering YOU with RJ Hodges.

Today’s takeaways:

#1: You need to invest in yourself. You need to invest money into your education, and if you don’t have money, invest your time. There’s a ton of free information online if you go looking for it.
#2: You need to know who YOU are before any program is really going to make a change. So listening to 5 Ways to Become Rich won’t have much meaning or benefit until you master YOU first.
#3: Entrepreneurship is all about serving other people and leaving a legacy, it’s not about standing in front a Lamborghini telling people how to get rich.
Bonus Tip: (These are awesome)
Every business owner needs to Criticise, Analyse and Publicise their own business.
  • Critic your own business everyday - Pull it apart and have clients give you honest, good, bad and ugly feedback.
  • Analyse your processes. Are they working? Don’t get stuck on a strategy that’s not working just becasue you paid good money for it.
  • Publicise - How do you communicate to your clients. Ho do you specifically do it and what is unique and innovative about you.

Hour 200 - FITNESS MINIMALISM - PART TWO

HOUR 200: In Top Form podcast with Somnath Sikdar and Pat Flynn, Episode 7: Fitness Minimalism - Part 2

If you want to learn more about ‘fasting’ and creating a calorie deficit you need to listen to the full episode. I’m not going to discuss this topic, becasue it’s too important and i don’t want to stuff it up.

Today’s takeaway points:

#1: Make your ‘work-life’ fit around your exercise schedule, not visa versa. If you try and fit exercise in around work, it will never happen, but if you fit work in around your exercise schedule, ‘Parkinson’s Law’ will make sure you get the work done.

#2: To master any skill, FREQUENCY is the key. For example, playing the guitar 15 - 20 minutes per day is far better than trying to play for 1.5 hours once per week. Exercise is no different.

#3: When something is EASY to do, it’s also easy NOT to do.

Hour 199 - Fitness Minimalism - PART ONE

HOUR 199: In Top Form podcast with Somnath Sikdar and Pat Flynn, Episode 6: Fitness Minimalism - Part 1

Fitness minimalism: Doing the least amount you need to do to achieve your fitness goals, but this applies to both fitness and business.

Todays takeaways:
  1. Look at your fitness goal like the old food pyramid: At the bottom you have Low Intensity Steady State cardio (LISS), such as walking 20 to 60 minutes per day. You can add a FORCE MULTIPLIER such as listening to a podcast. In the middle you have Strength and Resistance Training, 3 times per week and at the top you have Metabolic Condition. This is high intensity exercise, 1 - 3 times per week and no more.
  2. Never forget why you started exercising in the first place. Was it to get fir, lose weight, get toned, etc. It wasn’t to be addicted and have it overtake your life.
  3. Don’t forget to Meditate and look after your mind.

Hour 198 - Networking and Referrals

HOUR 198: Open Roll podcast with Jurgen Rudolph, Episode 84: Networking and Referrals.

Three takeaway points:

1. When you’re at a networking event you will be asked the obvious question: WHAT DO YOU DO? You need to have an answer and you cannot hesitate.

I was at a speaking event yesterday, Small Biz Big Future, and one of my fellow speakers and friends Nicky Jurd, from Precedence, nailed this question. “So Nicky what do you do?” Her response is, “I build websites for Business People”. She doesn’t say I’m in I.T.
Nicky gave another example of an Accountant. “I help business people reduce their tax”. This is much better than saying I’m an Accountant.

2. Be specific on the type of referrals you want. If you’re ideal clients are under 30 with young families, then tell people that’s what you want.

3. When someone tells you their business has grown 25% over the past 12-months, make sure you ask them how they did it. Don’t just nod your head and say that’s great. They will openly share what they’ve been up to.

Hour 197 - Ninja Tactics For Delegation

HOUR 197: The Lions Den For Business Men with Robert Mallon and Bill Watkins. Episode 192: Ninja Tactics For Delegation.

Here are my takeaway points:
  1. It shows a little arrogance if you don’t think you can delegate anything, becasue no one can do it as good as you.
  2. Common excuse for not delegating - I don’t have time. If you perform a task each week and it takes you 30 minutes, that’s 26 hours a year spent on that one task. Now, it may take you two hours to train someone else to do this task, but when you do it will give you back 24 hours per year…that’s three full work days, a long weekend off and more time with your family.
  3. Write a list of all the things you currently do that you perform like a Ninja Master, and another list of all the things you do not perform Ninja Master….Delegate list number two.
