Hour 212 - Expensive Payroll Mistakes

HOUR 112: The Savvy Dentist with Dr Jesse Green, Episode 51: An Insiders Guide To Avoid Expensive Payroll Mistakes with Tracy Angwin.

When you think of payroll mistakes you’re usually worried about underpaying your staff, but often it’s the opposite, you could be overpaying them, because you don’t understand the award correctly.
Most small business owners are unaware that they are bound by the same payroll rules as large billion dollar companies, except they don’t have the same payroll or legal team behind them.
Therefore, considered outsourcing your payroll to a company that knows exactly what to do.

Hour 211 - KARDENNI

HOUR 211: Two Magicians, One Mic - Episode date: 19/12/12 - KARDENNI

This is an older podcast recording from 2012, but I’m so glad I stumbled across it. It reminded me why I’m enjoying this walking challenge so much, because every industry has something worth sharing.

Kardenni is the Magician on the podcast and below are my takeaway points from the interview:

#1: Be inspired by others, but do not copy others, especially if it does not fit your character.
#2: Always use your own personality to make what ever it is your doing original. Make sure you keep it real, don’t plagiarise others, and make sure you’re constantly writing and developing your own material and ideas. Being original is hard work, but it’s so worth it in the end.
#3: Bonus Tip (not on video): Play to the audiences intelligence. Always make sure you’re being understood by everyone watching or listening to you, not just some. You can be very intellectual, but if no one understands what you’re saying or doing, what’s the point.

Hour 210 - Sometimes Business Sucks

HOUR 210: Marketing In Your Car with Russell Brunson, Episode 323: Sometimes Business Sucks.

When you first start out in business everything is simple, however as you grow and develop you will eventually face different challenges. You may face legal issues, product problems etc, but the number one things that really sucks is staffing issues.

An employee that’s with you when your business is turning over $200K per year may not be the right fit as you try to grow your business to $500K, and sometimes you must let them go.

Here's the good news though. More often than not they’ll find employment somewhere else and be much happier as well, because they’ll realise they were no longer a good fit as well.

Hour 209 - Letting Go of Guilt with Katie Allen

HOUR 209: Living Intentionally with Amy Smalarz, Episode date 6/3/17: Letting Go Of Guilt with Katie Allen.

Today’s Takeaway:

Yes you need to have vision, goals and a huge WHY and one of the best ways to accomplish this is to have a personal contract with yourself.

In this contract, for example, you may say you won’t take appointments before 9am and you’ll not work past 5pm, going you time for both your family and for yourself (maybe exercise).

Your family, friends and work colleagues need to know the details of your contract, you cannot keep it a secret, because you’re going to need their understanding and support.

If you Boss rings at 5.15pm, he or she will know you won’t answer the phone, and this also works just as well for your family. If they are wanting your attention before 5pm, they’ll also learn you’re in work mode.

This is living with intention and controlling life, not letting life’s fire alarms and distraction control you.

Hour 208 - Starting A Business In A Crowded Market

HOUR 208: $100 MBA podcast with Omar Zenhom, Episode 865: Starting A Business In A crowded Market.

Today’s Takeaway points:

#1: A lot of people think they need to create something new when they hit the market, but the problem with that is no one is looking for it, so it takes a lot of time, money and effort to promote it.

#2: The best thing about a crowded market is it proves people want that particular product or service. You just want your slice of the pie and there’s three ways to do this.

  • Differentiate yourself from everyone else.
  • What pain points are you going to solve.
  • Find your NICHE in the market, because if you try to speak to everyone, you end up speaking to no one. You become very vanilla.

Hour 207 - How Can We Fit More Productive Hours In One Week

HOUR 207: MORNING MINDFULNESS podcast with JIN, Episode 464: How Can We Fit More Productive Hours In One Week.

Todays Takeaway:

We all have 24 hours per day, so how come some people fit so much more in?

Time management is not possible, because we can’t manage something we have no control over. But what we can manage is our priorities.

It’s ‘Priority Management’. Each day you need to focus on what has the highest priority, and if you do this day by day, you’ll have a very productive week and get far more done. So focus on your priorities and let time take care of itself.
