Hour 236 - How Does A Successful Mind Think

HOUR 236: (FIJI) The Positive Play podcast Cannon Lee and Triz Garcia, Episode date 14/4/17 - How Does A Successful Mind Think with Amy Simpkins - Vision Architect.

Today’s Takeaway points:

#1: Your words shape your thoughts and your thoughts shape your actions. So if you let negative words come out of your mouth they will effect your thinking and this will eventually effect the actions, or inactions you take each day.

#2: A successful mind is also an ‘Experimental Mind’. Its not afraid to try new things and it’s not afraid to make mistakes, because it learns from errors and keeps moving forward.

Hour 235 - To Do List Apps

HOUR 235: The Productivity Show, Episode 135: How To Find & Choose The Perfect Todo List App For You.

Some people still like to use pen, paper and post-it-notes, but there are a lot of todo list apps and programs that can be used to make your life a lot more productive.

For very simple tasks, like shopping lists, there are many FREE apps you can download that have very basic functions.

Also, don’t forget to use the REMINDER on your phone as a todo function. It’s no good as a list, but excellent for one off activities, like picking up your children  from school.

Other considerations:
  • Are you sharing your todo list with someone else? Some are better than others at sharing.
  • Are you using it for business or is it just for personal use?
  • If you’re thinking of changing to a new todo list  app, make sure the change is worthwhile, becasue it will take you time to make the change. Is there a feature you really need and is this why you’re changing?
  • What are other people using successfully?

Hour 234 - Gary Vaynerchuk How To Start

HOUR 234: The GaryVee Audio Experience, Episode 17/4/17 - HOW TO START.
This podcast episode is all about creating content and why there’s no excuse for not talking to the world.

But fist you need to know WHAT, HOW and WHERE.

WHAT are you going to talk about? What do you want to be know for? You need to tell people what you’re thinking and don’t be afraid to share your thoughts.

You need to document what you’re passionate about. It may be coffee, food, whisky, or exercise and fitness. Self Awareness is the key and it’s more important than the hustle.

If you’re into Smurfs you need to Smurf-It-Up.

HOW are you going to share your information? you do it will vary. Some people prefer video and audio, while other like to write. Sure all mediums and play to your strengths.
Just get in front of a camera and start recording your thoughts and learn to enjoy the process of sharing.

WHERE you place your content is endless. Of course you have all the social media platforms, especially Facebook and Instagram, but you need to also guest blog, partner up with other people and you need to give, give, give value to people…and then ask.

As an example, go online and look up #CoffeeBlogs #coffee etc and you’ll find hundreds of links to coffee blogs and website. Start asking if you can write for them. One out of 347 will say yes, and that’s better than zero.

Start a beer blog, if you’re into beer, and then contact every beer outlet and ask if they’d like to advertise on your blog.

Why not start a written blog inside Facebook, or videos on Instagram. Share you thoughts on a regular basis. Gary said people eat this sh#t up.

SIMPLY START EXECUTING.

Hour 233 - Grow Up & Be An Adult

HOUR 233: MORNING MINDFULNESS podcast with JIN, Episode 484: Childish Mentality - Grow Up & Get Out Of Your Dangerous Box.

Tia’s Takeaway:

When you’re a child you can make silly decisions, because you don’t have as much knowledge or understanding. For example, why playing with matches can end badly. However as an adult you’re not supposed to make the same silly decisions, but some still do.

My Takeaway:

Eventually all adults need to grow up. It’s fine to act like a child occasionally, which I’m totally guilty of, but eventually you’ve got to remove actions that put your health and wellbeing at risk. Your actions may also put others at risk.

As an example, an immature driver will change lanes without checking their blind spot. They may do this out of inexperience, however as they become a more experienced and mature driver, this poor habit should not exist.

Hour 232 - Relationship with Parents

HOUR 232: Bond Appetit podcast with Ronsley Vaz, Episode 179: How My Father Schooled Me On My Own Podcast with Ricardo Vaz.
This is a really open, honest and at times, funny conversation between a Father and Son.
Today’s Takeaway points:
#1: Make an effort to communicate with your parents more often, because they do notice when you stop calling. It’s true, life gets busy, but we should never be too busy for our parents.
#2: A child can excel in anything if you let them play to their strengths. Some children are academics, while others are naturally gifted in sport, (some are both) and as parents we should provide guidance and advice, but we need to let them make the final decision in regards to their own career path.

Hour 231 - Tapping Into Your Dreams

HOUR 231: Elevating Beyond podcast with Mark Minard, Episode 139: Tapping Into Your Dreams with Chris Hogan.

Chris Hogan is the author of Retired Inspired.
Today’s Takeaway points:
#1: Retirement is not an age, it’s a financial number.
#2: You need to have a dream meeting with your partner or spouse.
#3: You then need to plan out how your going to achieve your dreams, becasue a dream without a plan is just a wish.
#4: Part of your plan is budgeting and knowing the difference between you WANTS and NEEDS.
#5: You need to surround yourself with a great team (Accountant, Lawyer, Business Advisor, Financial Planner and your family)
#6: Action Kills Fear
#7: You should be 100% present when you’re at home and the same when you’re at work. Limit distractions and cross over.

Hour 230 - Time Management Tip

HOUR 230: Happier podcast with Gretchen Rubin, Episode 112: Pick A Uniform (& Time Management Tip)

Today’s Tips:

#1: If you have a set uniform, or style of clothing that you will wear everyday, it can eliminate ‘Decision Fatigue’. You don’t have to wast any mental energy trying to decide what you will wear. This worked extremely well for Steve Jobs (Black shirt, jeans, skate shoes)

#2: You need to time all your activities, using a stopwatch, especially the activities you don’t like to to and you keep putting off. By doing this you can work out exactly how much time they take you to do.

For example, emptying the dishwasher will realistically only take 3 minutes, yet we’ll put it off because mentally it feels like it takes much longer.

Therefore you need to time all your activities: Moving the lawn, cleaning the pool, taking a shower, doing your hair, driving to work, doing the washing, hanging out the washing, and taking the washing off the line, etc etc etc.

When you know how much time each activity takes, you can strategically see how they fit into your busy, or possibly cluttered lifestyle. You will get more done by doing this.

Hour 229 - Seeking Guidance from a Billionaire

HOUR 229: The One Thing podcast with Geoff Woods, Episode 5: Seeking Guidance From A Billionaire - Jeff Hoffman.

Todays’ takeaway points:

#1: You don’t have to try and solve all the worlds problems in one day. Start small and learn the success process with small steps, then take on bigger projects.

#2:Find a problem that you know people care about…and fix it, but you need to work out if people are willing to pay you to solve it first.

* There’s a great story about how Jeff Hoffman helped develop the boarding pass kiosks at airport. He identified a ‘pain point’ and solved it.

#3: You will miss 100% of the shots you do not take.
