HOUR 41 - Building The Truth

HOUR 41:
Today’s Podcast was from Seth Godin’s Start Up Business School, Episode 13: Building The Truth.
Tip # 1: Your product or service has got to match your location. For example, if you’re a Psychologist and you want to set up an online business providing ten-minute consultations for profit, you may need to do a number of free consultations first with each client, so you can build trust, and then you can start charging a fee.
On the opposite side of the scale, if you have a traditional location, with monthly overheads, you can’t keep doing free consultations. Firstly, it’s not expected and secondly it can ruin your credibility. People expect to be charged a fee and you can’t build trust with zero credibility.
Therefore your product or service and how you provide it to the consumer, online versus traditional, has got to match your what you charge, if you want to  to build credibility and long term trust.
Tip # 2: When you’re hiring people you’ve got to trust yourself and believe that you’ve made the right choice. Stop jumping back in when you’re not needed. After you’ve given them guidance and training, step back and trust they can do the job as good as you.
You’ve got to give them space, give them a chance to succeed or fail, and if they do fail, don’t dive back in and do it yourself, which is our natural instinct as leaders, instead pick them back up and let them have another go. Eventually they’ll be doing it right, which will give you TIME to go off and do other things of greater value.

TRUTH ALWAYS WINS
