Hour 60 - Finding Real Value

Hour 60: The Dent Podcast with Glen Carlson, Episode 28: Interview with Jason Malouin - How He Found The Value His Clients Were Looking For.

I apologise, this video went for 2-minutes and I know everyones attention span only lasts for 60 - 90 seconds, but there were two really important takeaway points I wanted to share.
  1. Your environment dictates your performance: Jason Malouin is a photographer and he explained how one piece of equipment, positioned a particular way, changed the whole working relationship between him and the client.
My Thoughts: Let’s take it one step further; your environment will also influence your attitude and the attitude of your team, clients or patients. If you have outdated equipment and  old furniture how does this reflect on you and your business? How does your team feel and perform working in this environment? If you think it doesn’t matter you need to give yourself an uppercut.
  1. Creating a niche will not lose you money: Jason was a generalised commercial photographer, however once he decided to focus on portrait photography, his business boomed. He still did other photography work, but he put his energy and focus towards the area of photography he loved most and was passionate about, and it wasn’t based on what area of photography was the most lucrative.
My Thoughts: Every business can create niche. Ideally it will be the one part of your occupation you love the most, and if it also happens to be the most lucrative, then that’s a bonus (that’s what I did). Many business people don’t look for niche’s because they’re too scared.

Hour 59 - Try Everything (Persistence Podcast)

Hour 59: Persistence Podcast with Robyn Hartung, interviewing Jamar Jordan from Legit Chaos. Episode 1: - TRY EVERYTHING.

I was in Port Douglas because a friend of mine Len Ferguson from The FINN Group asked if I would speak at their annual conference on ‘Persistence & Resilience’. I was followed by fellow speakers and authors Jason Cunningham and legend Steve Bradbury, our first Winter Gold Medalist. Awesome day!

Today’s takeaway: As you grow your business you must try new things and constantly be working out what works and what doesn’t work for your business. Adjust and tweak your ideas as needed…but never give up on them. The Persistence podcast motto is YOU ONLY FAIL WHEN YOU STOP TRYING

I really enjoyed the energy between host Robyn Hartung and guest Jamar Jordan, and the way they openly shared their thoughts and bounced ideas off of each other. If you’re an inspiring entrepreneur, you’ll enjoy this podcast.

Hour 58 - The Power of Acceptance

HOUR 58: The Being Happy podcast, Episode 5 - The Power of Acceptance with Andrew Matthews.

Very simple message today: Throughout life there are things you cannot change, and if you cannot change them you need to learn to accept them and then work on the thing you can change.

He was asked if acceptance is being negative and a sign of giving up and he said ‘NO’.

Acceptance is not about giving up, it’s about realising the truth, it’s a reality check. There’s somethings in life you simply cannot change, such as your height, your family, etc, so why worry about them, or let them limit your success.

You cannot change what you cannot change, so accept it.

So instead work on the things you can change, like you attitude towards life, your circle of friends, maybe your weight, employment and your bank balance. These are all in your control.

Hour 57 - DJ SHRI

HOUR 57: Today’s podcast Vroom Vroom Veer hosted by Jeff Smith. In this episode, dated 24/10/16, he interviews DJ Shri, who is a marketing and music coach.
Today’s takeaway tips:
  1. You can’t start at the top. If you see someone who is at the top of their game, and you know that’s where you want to be one day, you need to be prepared to start at the bottom and put in a lot of hard work. That’s how they got there.
  2. There’s nothing wrong with getting a university education. Too often you’ll hear entrepreneurs say that college or university is a waste of time, and it can stunt your entrepreneurial spirit, but DJ Shri totally disagreed. University opens your mind to new experiences and people, which can assist you in your entrepreneurial journey. This was music to my ears. (forgive the pun)
  3. You need to follow your passion. Working with passion will always pay dividends.

Hour 56 - Contrast Stands Out (Role Models)

HOUR 56 in MELBOURNE - Today’s podcast is Elevating Beyond hosted by Mark Minard - Episode 131 interviewing Tom Schwab.
Today’s takeaway: If you’re looking for advice you need to find good role models. If you want advice on how to have a better marriage, you don’t talk to someone who’s been divorced five times, they probably won’t have the answers you’re looking for. This translates into every aspect of your life.
If you’re looking for business advice, find a role model that has owned and operated a successful business.
Now, if you cannot find a role model in your circle of friends, family or community, you can easily search online. Find an expert, or experts, in a particular area and listen to their podcasts, read their blogs, and watch their videos. If they have a book…read it. A role model doesn’t have to be someone you personally know.
This episode was almost split into two parts, what I’ve mentioned above, and what I talk on the video regarding role models and then the second half they discussed contrast and standing out in business using podcasting. I won’t go into detail here, but if your interested in podcasts and marketing through podcasting it’s worth listening to.

HOUR 55 - Learn To Speak Like A Pro

HOUR 55: Todays podcast was Duct Tape Marketing hosted by John Jantsch - Learn To Speak Like A Pro with Grant Baldwin from The Speakers Lab. #TheSpeakersLab #DuctTapeMarketing

If you want to speak like a professional, the more you do it the better you’re going to get, which makes sense, however Grant Baldwin said you need to also look at three very important aspects first.

WHY do you want to be a professional speaker, WHO are you going to talk to and WHAT are you going to talk about. You need to get these three things right.

WHY do you want to be a professional speaker? Is it simply to make money, or are you wanting to promote and sell a book, a course, or maybe a particular product?

WHO are you going to talk to? You can’t say I’ll talk to anyone, instead you have to narrow down your audience if you really want to be an effective and professional speaker.

And finally, WHAT are you going to speak about. Once again to be effective you can’t say you’ll talk about anything. What are your strengths and what subject do you really want to talk about.

When you see an amazing speaker, more than likely they’ve done that particular speech hundreds of times, first starting with smaller groups before moving onto larger audiences.

They’ve worked out what works and what doesn’t and used this experience to become a better speaker. Also, they limit their topics to just a few, which is why they know the subject so well, and this explains why they seem so good when you see them for the first time. This is what makes them awesome.

Hour 54 - Salesmanship #AskGaryVee Show

Hour 54: The #AskGaryVee Show, with Gary Vaynerchuk: Episode 232

Today’s Takeaway: Gary was asked a question about salesmanship, and is it required in all industries to be successful…and it was big resounding YES. Without sales skills you will not survive. #sales #Salesmanship

The reason many artists and musicians are broke and struggle is becasue they cannot sell themselves. Everything starts with the sale. Every successful business person has learnt the skill of selling. #Success

He went on to explain how his younger 22 year old self, who was a good salesperson, would be impressed with his current 40 year old self, and the wisdom he has picked up along the way.

If you’re already a great salesperson, you need to be constantly challenging yourself, testing new ideas and strategies, and constantly working on becoming even better than you currently are. #365HourChallenge #TysonEFranklin
